Mrs. Olubunmi Josephine Fatinikun was born in Ibadan on the 15th July, 1960 to the family of Abiodun of Oke-Ilewo Abeokuta, Ogun State.
She started her elementary education at the Methodist Primary School Akintola Road, Ekotedo, Ibadan between 1967 – 1972 and completed her first school-leaving certificate.
She sat for her West African School Certificate Examination at the famous Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School (Mary-Way) Odo-Ona, Ibadan, between 1973-1978.
She further proceeded to Comprehensive High School Aiyetoro and Ogun State Polytechnic Abeokuta where she completed her GCE Advanced Level in 1978 -1981. She was later admitted to the famous University of Ibadan in 1982 where she bagged the Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology in 1985.
She did her NYSC at the defunct Gongola State at the Rural Basis Services (RBS) working on the UNICEF Assisted Programme on Expanded Immunization Programme (EPI), Propagation of ventilated improved pit Latrine (VIP Toilet) and provision of Portable water to Communities.
In view of her desire to be of service to the nation and to the people at large, Mrs. Olubunmi Josephine Fatinikun joined the service of Lagos State Government on 8th February, 1988 as Higher Executive Officer (GD) and was later converted to the enviable Administrative Officers’ cadre.
Her exposure to the service was through the then General Service Bureau (now PSO), she served in the Centrally Deployed Cadres’ Directorate (CDC) where she acclimatized with the ongoing in the Service, such as deployment of Officers to various MDAs, enlisting of Officers for various State Assignments, Issues relating to career progression of pooled Officers and so on.
She worked in various Ministries, which includes Local Government Service Commission, Political and General Administration office (now Office of Chief of Staff), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economic and Planning and Budget. In view of her commitment, dedication and contributions, she was given a letter of commendation by the Ministry Economic Planning and Budget in Year 2003.
She has served in various capacities as a value adder contributing to the growth of the State in the following MDAs, Public Service Office from 2006 to February, 2013, Primary Health Care Board from February, 2013 to July 2016 before her recent deployment to the Ministry of Home Affairs, to head the newly bifurcated Special Services Directorate. She is a member of the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria.
